Thea Ogema

Hello!!! Aaniin Ikwe Mukwa indigo, Thea Ogema indizhinikaaz, Awaasisii indoodem, Chaachaabahning indoonjibaa. Hello!!! Lady Bear is my my name but what I am known as is Thea Ogema. I am of the Bullhead Clan and Inger, MN is where I am from. I am Leech Lake Ojibwe from northern Minnesota. I am proud to say that I go to Leech Lake Tribal College. I just finished my first year in the Liberal Education with STEM emphasis. I hope to go on to get a Bachelor’s in Environmental Science to come back and work for my reservation. I grew up in the Chippewa National Forest and got to see it in all it’s splendor. Now it is unrecognizable due to all the logging that has been done. Our water here in Leech Lake has been classified as one of the cleanest places in the state. I would love to be one of the ones who will be there to help protect the water and the forests for our future generations. I am very excited about this opportunity to attend this REU in Montana. I wish you all the best in all your education and career goals.
