Theresa Oehmke is a rising senior (class of 2015) studying in environmental engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). This summer, she is working on the debris flow project with Professor Kimberly Hill as part of Team Stream. Theresa has previous research experience in human body modeling, soil ecology, atmospheric chemistry, water transport and disposal in Dakar, and creating digital annotations. Theresa dreams of one day understanding the impacts of climate change on the land-water interphase especially in coastal areas and participating in outreach to inform the public about the environment around them. Outside of the classroom, Theresa is part of the Office of Minority Education’s Laureates and Leaders program, co-captain of the MIT Women’s Club Water Polo Team, and a mentor and swim coach for Amphibious Achievement. She enjoys watching movies and hanging out with friends.
